Look, a flower bud! This #acanthus has been in the same position for quite a few years. It always produces leaves but never a flower, so to say I’m happy would be an understatement 😂 #cantwaitforittoflower #mygardentoday 18/06/2018

I hope you have better luck than me, Vanessa, but it will be worth waiting for 🤣 @nessas

Great news Barbara. Worth the wait.
Earlier in the year I moved this potted #acanthus from an east facing position at the side of the house to a north facing position at the front of the house where it’s in almost total shade. It obviously likes its new home as it’s sent up four flower spikes, the most it’s ever had! #containergarden #bearsbreeches #mauveandwhite #happyplant #mygardentoday
Yes, it's happy for the move! Great result 💕💕
They are lovely, bit of a brute though
That’s great Barbara, I remember we talked about you moving it last year 😀👍🏼
That looks fantastic. I do like them but had never thought of growing then in a pot 🤔
As Joan so rightly says, Jacqueline, they’re a bit of a brute so I thought it was worth confining them to a pot! It’s also been trial and error finding the right spot for them, as Sarah reminded me, but I think I’ve cracked it now! A very successful move, Chris. @joanboston @awomanonabike @sieveheadsarah @midnightgardener 😘😘😘😘
That’s good to know Barbara as I’m always looking for something that will be good in shade 👍
...super shot Barbara
A great looking plant for the shade...👍🏼
Glad all your patience and perseverance has finally paid off. It’s great when something rewards you with more flowers 😀
It was in part sun before but it didn’t ever seem happy, Marilyn. I actually thought that the north facing position would be too shady but obviously not. It’s a real architectural-looking plant, Elaine. @lovemygarden65 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom 😘😘
Thanks John. It’s at the front of the house by a window so I opened the window and took the photo from inside looking out! 🤣🤣 @ukjohnny
