Most clematis will regenerate after a drastic chop, but I love petiolaris too

This clematis was over 20 years old Joan, but it got disease in the roots, when we chopped it down, it was just wet mush beyond saving..I have left a tiny little bit in the ground as I'm forever the optimist lol..but the hydrangeas will be better as it's quite shaded area, and our neighbour used to get the benefit of the clematis lol. @joanboston

Oh yes our neighbours benefit from our Montana and bill Mckenzie. I have to warn them when I’m giving them a cut back as both cover their pergola too!😂
