Evening All ☔ These are the more regular type of Aquilegia flower on this plant, seems to be a hybrid of two I had together 'McKanna Giant' and 'Tinky Winky' therefore I name you 'McKannas Giant Winky' and its Pink too 😉😄 #aquilegia #columbine #grannysbonnet #McKannasGiantWinky

Well the 1st Aquilegia to flower, and I've never had one flower quite like this before 🤔 Most are these little upright bells, with an odd, more 'regular style' one on each stem #aquilegia #columbine #grannysbonnet

It looks like you have the first mutant of the year Jason 👍

Was really hoping the Mutant Barlow one had survived the winter but no sign still, think it would be up by now if it was coming @pelly

#mutant indeed -- I would never have pegged these as Columbines -- neither the shape nor the color fits

1w

gjones

Are you sure that's a columbine? It looks more like a variety of campanula.

I've had a few mutant Aquilegia 😂 @emch

I am. And it does. 😄😂 Definitely Aquilegia, I had 'McKanna Giants' at the last house, which seeded freely, although I didn't take the original plant, this was one of its offspring, 1st time flowering. The Aquilegia next to the original was 'Tinky Winky' (an upwards facing one) 🤔 @gjones

Evening All ☔ Its a wet and cold night at work, took this before I left, Aquilegia coming up in a trough on the kitchen windowsill. Managed to bring 5 plants in this when we moved, all survived, but no ideas what any of them are. Hopefully find out soon 🙏 #aquilegia #columbine #grannysbonnet #ol-pot

I love Aquilegia so what ever comes up is good, although I did have a pure White one that I adored and I'm really hoping its one that I found 🤞 @pelly @sharonhayden

Erm nope 😄 If you want the full description...They have 3 different names, Aquilegia from the Latin for Eagle, and Colombine from the Latin for Dove, and Granny's Bonnet, because that's what they look like 😄 Are you asleep yet?? 😴😂 @charlotte

I have some grown from free seeds on gardening magazine last year and really looking forward to seeing them flower.

These are all ones I've grown from seed, Aquilegia are they only thing I can successfully do, I have no luck with other seeds, I don't look after them well enough @joannie.a
