It confuses me a lot cus im like thats a pretty azalea and a older gardener will be like kids these days don't know squat(I'm so not a kid in age myself btw) so its funny to me and frustrating cus I can't always tell the difference @sushiwaitress
@cyndi @sushiwaitress Yes, this is an azalea. I used to have both where I lived before. Rhododendrons have much larger, leathery leaves. The flowers are also more clustered. Azaleas have smaller leaves (usually smaller than the individual flowers) and the flowers are scattered over the shrub. Rhododendrons bud the year before and keep their spring bloom buds over winter. They are quite large. (think thumb size)
I'm so happy I decided to do a cutting of this it sure has made me happy such beautiful color it is as well so dark! Katy @gjones it was such a small cutting and I kept my fingers crossed it would work thrilled it did.
My #rhododendron has #buds all over it some are all ready gonna #bloom soon. So far no freezes in the foreseeable future.. But Im so leary of taking anything out from the protection.. Mother nature can be fickle so ill wait a bit longer for some things.
