@cyndi can I give you a suggestion on how I propagate potatoes. I don't do slips, I take a few potatoes & let them sit in dry cool place, waiting for eyes to appear ( I sit mine on back porch without sun) then cut eyes out plant those..much quicker!!
More #sweetpotatoflower hope I get a good batch of #sweetpotato to eat.. Yummy i can taste sweet potato fries already.. i am actually growing some indoors just for the flowers as an experiment maybe I'll get a few sweet potatoes as well lol
2 #slips are now ready for #separation and #waterrooting #water-propagation to make #strong #healthy #roots to #plant in the #veggiebed or in a #large #container #alwaysoutofdirt so #vegatablebed it will be. Dontforget #companionplanting for a better #successrate for your #crops #companionplants for #sweetpotatoes #whitehellebore #dill #thyme #beets #parsnips #basil #okra #fullsun #avoid #tomatoes #squash
Thanks Keely i did an oops and did it upside down on a few but it still worked so im happy about this progress. Even if i get a few healthy slips it will get me a lot of sweetpotatoes. It will take a while longer before they are ready to be planted tho. Hope by spring will be more than ready @Keely
Fantastic progress, Cyndi. You should end up with a wonderful crop. I had so many last year that I dehydrated sliced sweet potatoes/yams for my dog as treats. She loves them and they are so good for her!
Thanks you all @kimguy @columbiariver @jeatacake im hoping to have great crop of good food and herbs this year Fingerscrossed lol and yes Jeff its in water you cut the ends off and put the cut end in water held up with tooth picks clean water often and give it time takes forever lol but worth it.
They need started indoors and it takes a long while. To start the slips by the time they are ready it will be warm enough for you lol.. http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/outdoors/gardening/how-to-plant-and-grow-sweet-potatoes. This is a easy #link for them. @jeatacake
Its fun to watch the process of the slips growing as well. Few years back i grew sweetpotatoes. Boy where they good too. @jennlamaye. Pretty flowers as well. Like morning glories all over the ground lol.
