After scrolling, mine is about to overrun its pot too. Not sure if I'll try to overwinter it, I might pull the bulb, store it and put it into the ground next year. I didn't know they spread. Not a problem tho. Kind of a good thing really
Is yours like mine @lesliecole49 if so then yes they spread and will need to be kept in check. They do look great all spread out tho in beds with cannas and such growing with them. Plants that like the same soil environment
I recently had it's pot under a hackberry tree for late afternoon shade. But! Now the wooly aphids in the tree are pooping honeydo on it. So I've had to move it. I forget i cant put much of anything under it. The honeydo molds and will smother a plant. I only have half a dozen or more hackberry! @cyndi 😬
Good to point out the zinnia when u look at that u sure can see how huge they are WOW I had the hide all mine in the banana trees put sun here is just to darn hot. Good job cyndi they look great 👍🏻👍🏻😘💕
Elephant ears @moore.794 ? They do have a runner on this type so I could see them running amok in florida in the hotter areas. So far i havent had issues with to much spreading. Terry this wild taro known scientifically as Colocasia esculenta, is invasive in Florida and should not be planted is what i read but link below. I dont know the actual name of mine i put it under this one cus i dont know exact name sorry gt keeps glitching on me and not letting me finish typing.
Well I sure appreciate you doing that. Where do yours grow? I’d put mine in the dirt but it seems like the sun is burning the leaves and they get druppy fast if I don’t water them? I’m guessing they need shade but now I know I feel bad u did that. I know those arrowhead plants do the same but those runners grow leaves. Thxs again so much😊💕
Some are in part shade part sun some in full sun some in shade. They need loads of water in this heat ..at night is better cus has time to soak it up. No worries i just placed this in another spot cus it escaped its bed. Which they are prone to do. Lol @terrimclaughlin
This was some #elephantears i tossed into the woodline didnt bury them along with some cannas and they are even bigger than ones in my yard and they get pretty large in right conditions i would have did the palm on plant for size reference but its tall weeds and Prob has spiders and snakes in there lol but there huge
I wonder why they are.. these are so simple that i have some out of soil just in a bucket with water and they are growing. If yours die let me know Ill send ya some. I have so many lol xoxo @columbiariver
I don't know. I bought a giant bulb, softball sized, and planted indoors late winter. I also bought caladium. Neither have popped up. Your cute one is trying to poke out now. I have them on the hot deck because they like warmth.
#raindrops on an #elephantear and it needs to #rain more. Its been so hot already I have #fullsun #plants that are getting sunburn. Not good that means come summer its gonna get worse so need to move said plants to shadier area or at least where can get afternoon shade.
#Goodmorning everyone hope all is well where ever you are this day!! My #elephantears have gone #blooming #crazy no joke there is 5 #blooms just in that one spot. Never seen them bloom this much since I have had them. #yellow #elephantearflowers @ShelleySnyder I think they are showing off for you haha

These are the flowers of the elephant ears. Its not often you see this happen. And the bloom color I guess depends on the type you have. @terrimclaughlin I have some in all sun some in part shade they do the same for me but could be the soil and where I live at as well.
