This #aloe was hidden by a lot of plants. If yalls remember any of my #sunbed pics i had loads of plants in this path that has been #detroyed #whyjustwhy When murder crosses your mind but you dont wanna go to prison... And im noones b*t**. #destruction #broken #whatthehelliswrongwithpeople? #mealycupsage ive had enough I almost at the point I just wanna give up the fight and say screw it. So many missing plants and broken ones. I wanna scream. The aloe was sorta smooshed but it will survive.
Aww Cyndi I am sorry! I feel your pain girl. I hate it that people don't care as much as we do about our plants. I've had some people come and steal 2 venus fly traps from right off my porch and my Bf didn't take very good care of my sundews while I was gone either. Some died. He let the water and soil run completely dry on some!
This is one #soapaloe #mommaplant who has so many babies its crazy. She didnt do this many last year the whole year all together.. Second pic to come and i couldnt get pics of them all. #aloe #aloevera
@muhammadabbas you could pull them now and pot up or wait till about 5 in or they are looking squished near momma plant. I moved mine between 3 to 5 in. When i was gifting them about 2 or 3 inches because was easier to ship.
Ok I think, I should wait till about 5 inches because I scare to losing these babies, or maybe can't survive these babies in this early stage (about 3 inches) I will use your idea of about 5 inches to pull them. Thank you so much @cyndi
They survived this!? It snowed like a centimeter here last year. It is very rare for us to get snow. I brought all of my plants in. Perhaps I'll leave this huge fella out this year. I'm not sure I can lift the pot up the stairs D:
Its leaves all died but it did come back. If you mulch very heavy and add a blanket over it when it is snowing or below freezing it helps alot. You could make a domed green house for your pot as well. Some strong chicken wire cut to dome the pot and push in soil the some thick clearish plastic over that would help It alot. Or if you can find very large plastic jug to cut base off like those larger water cooler jugs see if they will fit over it. @ohhyouknow
@columbiariver @PunkyKy @KariSamuel @treefrog44 @ShelleySnyder @pretty_paws_29 @Acetaker. And I cant remeber everyone I sent this to in past but this is the name of it. Just figured it out after more reseach if you know anyone else I sent this to please tag them thanks...lol.. #aloe-maculata #soapaloe heres a link so you can see growing zones and needs of it. http://www.monrovia.com/plant-catalog/plants/3535/soap-aloe/ if I have not sent it to you I will in future more babies are growing. Xo
@UrbanjungleRick Rick see the whitish colored "roots" these were twining around it self in a cinderblock and they are(most of them) pups that were basicly stuck and wasnt getting enough room to grow up and out. Best wishes on yours look very healthy
So far all mine have and I really dont do nothing special at all. This one even started to bud after the transplant I was surprised. I have few more need to move as well soon to their new bed area. I hope your do next season they are amazing @KariSamuel
I had some in a container for a while but the babies were so crowded and it couldnt spread out. So I decided the ground was better. If i had another kiddy pool i would put them in that to keep them contained a bit. @ohhyouknow thank you
That is an excellent idea. I am afraid I will have to pull the babies on mine or repot very soon. I have a whiskey barrel I was thinking about repurposing, do you think I could get away with planting it in there? I think I would have to put something big and hollow at the bottom, because I’m not wanting to have a 500 lb whiskey barrel lol
That would be extremely large for them. They dont need too deep just enough room to spread out. If you could find something this deep maybe smaller round or this size if you had space drill holes for drainage and make a more sand thean soil mix and ads white rocks on top would work well https://m.lowes.com/pd/Summer-Waves-Wading-Pool-45-in-L-x-45-in-W-Blue-Plastic-Round-Kiddie-Pool/1000187773 and you could make a green house dome for it out of chicken wire and thick plastic sheeting for winter
@ohhyouknow 👆👆 then remove after last freeze. But something deep wise like this but smaller would work as well. Would give plenty of room to grow and can be a desert garden type area. Aloea near center and some succulents near edges that dont get huge. Just an idea
I have had them do this last two years since I had them. These stay outside year round but will bring some pups in this year if I have enough lol just in case @columbiariver i can save a pup for you for spring Laura just let me know i have a few of these plants
I use this plant for burns/sunburns and for mixing up with herb and alcohol mix to help my wounds get better faster. Somethimes for my face.. Just so many ways to use it. And it is good we know the basics of them at least like you said we might need them. Even if making cough meds or teas. @columbiariver
No its different the one I sent you was a house plant type not sure of name i got just a tiny scrap of a piece over 10/15 years ago didnt even think would survive but it did and has given me hundreds of babies. Sorry I dont know name of this one the guy mumbled it years ago he was a neighbor and i didnt catch it. He was weird lol @columbiariver but I do know its medicinal i am always using it when needed.
The big one was removed because i was moving locations of them for more sun and more room to grow @muhammadabbas the babies you just gently dig around them and pull up from the base they will break away from the momma plant easy. Then trasplant where you want them or pot up and give away as gifts or plant trades.
See the verybtop baby? It didn't take long to make your pup. Protect them this winter since they are transfers and had to travel and are babies. Then every winter after that just put some pine straw around them for added protection from freeze. @Acetaker
