We took our oldest Rhody out today 🤪 My mom and I planted it roughly 31 years ago 😭 It fell victim to lace wing bugs. We tried everything to save it. Our other rhodys an azaleas that are more shaded are doing better. Don't plant them in the sun because the lacewings thrive there. Sadly they have become a problem in recent years #lacewingbug #killerbugs #rhodykiller 8.11.19
Look at these mahoosive flowers 🌺💚 and this one is probably 20 ft tall. It has room to stretch since we took out overgrown photinea. #rhododendron #mygardenla #perennialla #pink #pinkflowers #big #bigplants #spring May 2019
The rhodies are still infested with the lace bugs. I've never applied any type of horticulture oil so I'm going to do that before the rain. I have fertilized them well. Last summer we introduced 1000 lady bugs. This summer, not many of them around. I have sprayed water aggresively under the foliage twice during summer and applied neem oil. We have huge 30 year old rhodies, big job and none of it is helping. They look awful 10.18.18
Ok garden goddess, but do you mean the entire underneath of them all? Instead of the horticultural oil? I don't know what I'll do to be honest. It's wearing me out. I'm not 45 anymore! Lol! ♀️😐💜 @cyndi
Thank you Rachel. If I lose all of these big things I'm going to be very unhappy. On the other hand I'm getting tired of the battle and I could start a whole new garden if I am unsuccessful 🧀🍷💖 ♀️😚 @rachelbrooks
You'll get more. Get a rhodie feed for it. I just started feeding mine 2016, believe it or not, and they have more flowers than ever now. They love acid. You can read up on adding citrus peels to soil also. Good luck with yours. These came tiny in one gallon containers #onceuponatime @uaskigyrl
Can't believe how many buds are on my poor old rhodies. They're putting on a show despite their condition. They have bugs that we're fighting with other bugs, but it is a slow process. #yellow #rhodie1
Thanks @kymmastin This is either pink or white. I bet it was hard to leave yours behind. Sounds like it was pretty. I have a nice lavender colored one too. I'll share. They are native to our area and the ones we planted years ago are getting nice and big. I will add photos in spring. I have a few colors. Azaleas too.
