Best year ever for this monster #honeysuckle

Bet that smells divine sitting there!

That is fab Laura!

It's lovely when the hummingbirds come by. Yes, I cut it drastically. If you scroll back you can see how awful it got. This year it's resurrected! @cyndi @Mikekally

Wowzer, just had a scroll through - what a great job you did on it!

Wow! It was a biggie! I’ll have to see if I can find a pic of the one that was over my pergola when I moved here...it was like a tree and just so rampant!!

Beautiful Laura !😁😁😁

You made a great job saving it Laura. It looks stunning now ☺️👍 Rampant Rachel 😉😂@rachelbrooks

😂 ooh I’ll have to show you my RR Susum..! It’s full of flowers ☺️ @susanhumphrey333

Yes, it was rampant, Rachel and Sue. Recovered and so much healthier now. Show us Rachel! We want to see! @rampantrachel and @suebeedoo oops @rachelbrooks and @susanhumphrey333

Thank you Jacqui. Its a nice change! @Muzz67

It is beautiful, Laura💕 @columbiariver

This one is gorgeous this year. All that trimming really paid off.

So many flowers! Beautiful 😊😊

Thank you Kim! It's been a major project for a couple of years. I'm very happy to have it thriving @Mikekally

Love honeysuckle! Mine is growing!

The pups and i only spotted two blooms this morning. This one and the hollyhock still going. Good night honeysuckle. Get some rest 💕

Wow that's awesome Laura!!💘😍

The vine is completely dried back @ShelleySnyder . 😜😂

I have a honeysuckle that we've had for a very long time, it looks great in the spring nice and busy and blooms then goes to (bleep!) And gets aphid really bad so we are thinking of replacing it with a clematis!💘😍

Good plan. Be ready for mildew tho. This guy gets aphids late in summer when its so hot and dry out that I just don't care. I kind of let her go this year. But my new clematis vines did terrible with mildew. Going to hit them with the vodka I hear @ShelleySnyder

Oh great!! Maybe I'll just start looking at vines and decide on something else!🤔🤣😜💘😍

I love vines so much. Im always looking for them. My porcelain vine already died too. Lol! Cant win. We will find climate appropriate vines, I know we will @ShelleySnyder

Yes we will!!👍😉💘😍

Girls I don’t know what zones you are in...have a look at Solanum Jasminoides...it’s a fantastic climber and flowers for ever!! Laura, @ShelleySnyder and so far, no trouble at all!

@rachelbrooks I'm in US zone 8 ! Thanks will look at!!💘😍

Says it’s good for 8-10 Shelley 👍🏼 @ShelleySnyder

@rachelbrooks I will definitely check it out then!!👍👍😉💘😍

She is tamed! And aphid free! #honeysuckle

Might be Halls honeysuckle

Lonicera Cilosa I believe, Terry. Purchase tag said 'orange honeysuckle', years ago. A beauty but it's been a project. Deck is about 15 ft up. I completely took this baby back to almost nothing but main wood last year. The base is bare until it hits the deck now. Starting to look like she's cared for. @moore.794

Swipe to see before pics

@columbiariver mine must not be labeled correctly.is supposed to be native not jap. Invasive and. When i look up halls only shows jap.

This one has not been invasive, just difficult. That's a shame. Is it everywhere now? @moore.794

@columbiariver yes the jap variety is everywhere around here. Shrub & vine

Good job! Looking great!

That honeysuckle looks really good there.

She's growing beautifully after last year's severe pruning. But, the aphids are back again. I've planted a bronze fennel in planter below as I read here that they're a good #aphid deterrent. #aphidderrent we've had a good mild soapy water bath and a spray w the hose. Fingers crossed!

Looking good and healthy Laura. Love where you have it 😊

Before and after. I've been working hard today. Trying to save this orange honeysuckle. The aphids got to it. Then I burned it with neem oil. Never again will I use neem. Anyway, how's my trimming skills?

I know what you mean on the need oil...

Looks good, never used neem oil but have it. So does it burn foliage? @columbiariver

Hi @leisel . I really burned it bad with neem. I will use soapy water next time. Maybe I didn't use it correctly. Idk.

Trimming looks great. They always shoot back thicker and better!

Oh yeah, much more peaceful.

OK, this project set me back a few days. I think by tomorrow I might be OK again. #painful but I still feel #victorious

I've forgiven neem oil. As a matter of fact used it today on roses for mildew and some newly planted godetia and coleus babies were being eaten by something. I think I may have saved them. @cyndi

Lonicera Cilosa, honeysuckle, I believe. Was beautiful. #sickplant #help I used Neem Oil and burned the poor baby. It is about 12 feet tall. I almost want to trim it way back to maybe 6 feet. What do you think?

About to give out, but it's bloomed non stop since spring
