I've decided to move most of the hosta into one shade garden except for the ones that are too big and well established. It's looking nice. I'll show you later #hosta #foliage #green #collage 5.6.19 #perennialla #spring

Good morning all. Have a wonderful Wednesday or Thursday. This is the hosta that was solid yellow for weeks upon emerging from the ground. #plantain #hosta #hostaflower

It's made a great recovery Laura 👍😊 and a flower too 😍

@columbiariver sure looks good now!!💘😍

Good ol' photosynthesis! Isn't nature clever?! 👍🏼👏🏼💚

I believe it's supposed to be yellow at first. Had it for a long time. Really very healthy looking. Do you think it was sick? @susanhumphrey333 @rachelbrooks @ShelleySnyder

@columbiariver not if it's always yellow first! There's one that's called white feather that emerges white and eventually turns green so why not yellow!? Does it always come up yellow?💘😍

It's always delightfully yellow at first @ShelleySnyder

@columbiariver then I say it's healthy as can be!! Do you know the name of it? I love plants like that! 💘😍

Wish I did Shelley. Sprouts out purple even. @ShelleySnyder

No, I think quite a few varieties do that Laura 👍🏼

@ShelleySnyder if we ever get a chance to meet up, I'll give you a chunk of it.

@columbiariver that would be fab!! Your so sweet!!💘😍

We'll figure out which one when it blooms. Its getting quite large. This is just a piece. May split a piece off to transplant.

That's coming up really good. They're easy to split with a garden fork.

Good. I can use some more of them around the cooler spots. @gjones

All stretching out! 👍🏼💚

Signs of life!

@gjones I broke my fork trying to drive into my plantain clump and have up! I may ask the other half to try and win the war!

Have they been there a long time Sylvia? Mine have not been touched for 25 years. Might be tough inside there. @SylviaDavies @gjones

Only three years max @columbiariver definitely tough! Mine are in well drained soil so they may have had to dig deep to get moisture!?

Maybe that's why Sylvia. Keep trying. @SylviaDavies

Some of mine have been in the same spot for over twenty years Laura. I'm scared to try and split them. They are in a solid bank around the pool and hubby would have to do it and I don't trust him 😂

@SylviaDavies @columbiariver we've bent our fork tines doing it but found that once you get the fork pressed in, wiggle it back and forth several times to loosen the rootball. It also works good using two forks pressed into the same location but facing away from each other. Pull both forks opposite direction. Does this make sense!?

@SylviaDavies @columbiariver @susanhumphrey333 also helps to let them dry out a bit first so the soil loosens, however if you have compacted soil such as clay, moist is probably better.
