I finally have rose of Sharon. He brought starts home from Granny's today. In purple pitcher is Left: lavender, right:pink with deep red center. Granny and Gramps brought their plants from Ohio long ago. These will go behind the Walnut tree. 9.9.18

I so love my rose of Sharon! The caterpillar I just posted was on a leaf of a ros I started from seed. This is such a pretty one. Do try to save me some seeds!

Rose of sharon has such a beautiful flower. Nice that you could get cuttings from the family!

It's funny because they never appealed to me until I had a close look. I hear they're easy to propagate. Probably not in my garden. 50/50 chance. 🐮 I'll get seed for both types next time I'm out at grannys. Woohooligans back at ya! @anges @shelleysnyder @lesliecole @Cyndi @gjones

Hi Terri! Hubby mother's house is where they came from. She and his dad moved here from Ohio. They brought cuttings on a trip they made back there @terrimclaughlin 💙💚💜

@columbiariver they're tough little things. I started some from seed last year, forgot about the tiny pots outside during the winter... Totally unprotected. They came back this spring and even though I wasn't watering them they survived. Finally got them into the dirt and they are four feet tall now... One season! I'm using them as a privacy hedge.
