It seems to me, that each winter here is getting colder with more snow. We've always had a lot of rain tho. We've been up and down with daytime temps ranging from the low 30s to nearly 60 each week! Really crazy. It was 59 yesterday and 34 today, with another bout of snow coming this weekend. Do the hellebore respond to the temps? It's my first one

My weather is very similar. The last several days add 80 mph winds. They do fine. Even when it snows. Weird, huh? I can't understand it, but they bloom! @lesliecole49

It's it's first year in my yard and I think I put it in a spot that's not perfect. The gutter above it has a leak that drips a hole next to it, or I could fix the gutter... 🤔

Did you trim off the big leaves?

They died off to an ugly stage in summer. I did cut them off. New ones are coming @lesliecole49

I've read a couple gters have cut off the bigger leaves in order to see the flowers better. Mine are still in 16oz solo cups right now but they've had a nice growing spurt so I'll proble put them in the ground this year.

I had several that were damaged in February and we just cut back The ugly and left the nice, I think they'll be fine next year 😉 that's my story and I'm sticking to it!🤪💘😍

Isn't amazing that something that self-seeds everywhere is so difficult to propagate from seed? None of mine took... I just dig up and move the seedlings to where I want them. Then I start waiting for flowers. Too bad they take so many years - good thing the foilage is so decorative!

If it is happy, you'll probably soon see little selfseedlings around the mother plant. Here, they provide a lovely green color all year - apart from the day and a half they are covered by snow, give or take😂😂😂

I'm exaggerating. But it is true that snow rarely stays for long. When it snows, we have to drop everything and get our sledges out before it is too late. Making plans for tomorrow after dinner rarely works - most likely we'll be having a completely different season by then.

Come to think of it, we have the same deal with sunshine as we do with snow😂 Guess that should make us good at living in the moment, but I'm not sure... Always room for improvement, I guess.

Always! Isn't that the truth? Our snow usually comes and goes quickly unless its followed by ice. Which is more often than not. It will be interesting to see winter unfold, as usual ❄👍⛄@emve
