Glad I didn't stop fighting with the slugs. First bloom for this bitsy dahlia. #bitsydahlia #dahlia

Everywhere we kept watered well for new plants Shelley. Slugs and moles. Even with the sharp filbert shells. @ShelleySnyder

The moles haven't damaged any of my plants yet Laura, but the dogs have left a mess in the yard digging for them. 🐕

Thats too bad Leslie. I'm going to order predator urine for spring. Our yard is just a mess with mole diggins. I think he finally got the last one for this year. They've really only killed one plant. Pushed it up and it was a needy plant to start. But such a mess! @lesliecole49

Any advice welcome please! Moving the dahlias into flower beds. Bonne is super leggy. I've started them wrong. I used good potting soil and fertilizer. After reading on Swan Island Dahlias valuable website I've learned they like plain dirt from your ground. They like fertilizer, but make sure it's low nitrogen. Such as 5*10*10 , 10*20*20 #matildahuston #bonneesperance # #swanislanddahlias #dahlia http://www.dahlias.com/howtogrowdahlias.aspx

Pinch out the growing tip at the top, you can use it as a cutting then too 😊

The leggy ones cut back(just means they will flower later) and as @hayleyaj says use them for cuttings I use 🐴 💩 as a mulch round them and lots of water @columbiariver

Pinch blooms off smaller blooms as they develop if u prefer bigger blooms rather than many blooms.... (or so I've read)

You can root dahlias just like the roses.

I love gardentags @usgardentags @ukgardentags. You're all a great help. I've pinched back miss Bonne Esperance and have a new plant. I'm happy to know I can do that. Your knowledge is much appreciated. And to think, we used to just stick them carelessly in the vegetable garden. But those weren't as nice as these... I hope. Dar, you better get on that 🐴💩,😄. @hayleyaj @carolgs @SikoMa @bpetty55 @moore.794
