An artichoke is happening in there. 11.1.18 first one this year as seed was started late. Can't believe my eyes!

🤢

I have never seen an artichoke grown!

It's down there Susan. Tap this pic and scroll over to see my pride and joy last year @Susanandsteve

Your pictures of the artichokes are so fun! Thank you!

I'm glad you like them. I couldn't stop photographing them. Very fun Susan. @Susanandsteve

😮😮😮

Wow that’s a nice one too. Thanks for showing me. Good luck 🍀

You're welcome, my pleasure Phil. They're fun to grow @philstalder

Even if it doesn't flower, I still think it's an awesome plant. Behind it is ugly right noe. Going to plant back there soon

This does have outrageous leaves!💘😍

Love the leaves on these👍

The leaves are up to my neck @shelleysnyder @jeatacake

It will! I bet down inside the crown there's a bloom hiding! Mine now has 4! From one of your seeds 😍😍

That makes me very happy Hayley! 🐛🌱💖 @hayleyaj

And me Laura! 😁

👍👍👍

Wow, much taller you'll need a ladder yo pick the artichokes!

Seedling is finally starting to shoot up! This one was started with the last seed I could find in my stuff and it was a wimpy looking little seed. So I have to say I'm pretty pleased. Should have a flower by August...I hope! 7.3.18 #artichoke #fromseed #growbabygrow

@columbiariver My artichoke is still kicking. It looks to be about the same as yours right now. If it ever stops raining I’ll go take a picture of it and post it.

The rain has helped the seed come further along. Drying out! Let me know if you'd like to try growing #artichoke #seedsaving #artichokeseed #seed

@jennlamaye I will send you more, real seed 💕

@columbiariver oh wow! Thank you!! 💕

I tried with some seeds my neighbour gave me last year, but wasn't successful. They are amazing plants! 😄

I never try it ,but your picture is beautiful

I'm happy to send you some seed if you'd like to try again Hayley. Im going to add my email as an individual post, if you are at all interested 👋👌@hayleyaj

If you want seed my email is prettyfallday@outlook.com

May I send you seed to Nigeria Helene? @zuma

I would like to try Laura if you dont mind. Yours were beautiful!

That would be great, if you have enough? Thank you 😊👍🏻

I would be happy to and have hundreds of seeds Hayley and Kyla. 💌 @hayleyaj @punkyky

Thank you Shelley. Yes, I hope to see if back @ShelleySnyder

Amazing seeds. They come out straight as a pin and gracefully open into fluff. The seed is securely connected to the carrier. #seedsaving #globeartichoke #autumn

Isn't nature awesome?! 🙌🏼

Thats what I said @ShelleySnyder . who knew?! So many surprises in the garden 💖😍🌿

These are most of the artichoke pups that the mother plant put out and these are doing great. She's still making more pups. I really don't know how we're going to keep them over for months tho! Cart before the old Grey mare again. Learning by doing!

#artichokepups #artichoke

I do but I don't @cyndi. With our winters the wind and the flying tree branches might surely take one out. Idk?

So jealous this is on my secret wishlist keep looking at them in the GC but never take the plunge 😂

Artichoke pups from the mother plant as promised. Now I think I need to pot them? Then what? I don't know! Will they survive in the house til spring? #whatifikillthem #artichokepups #artichoke

I love the OSU extension Cyndi. I guess I'm the only one here who's done chokes huh? I better read up! @cyndi

You know how I love seeds! 😜😜😍 @cyndi

I feel the same way. This is more healthy than many other things 😉 @cyndi

Thank you Shelley. ng I'm glad you enjoyed them too. Its been fun for us. @shelleysnyder

Those where so cool looking!!

@columbiariver @ShelleySnyder I am envious...for two years I have planted organic artichoke plants and nothing happens. Is there a secret to getting artichoke to produce?

@pat2356 I DON'T KNOW! @columbiariver is gonna have to tell you that! Sorry! 💘😍

Thank you Janelle. A definite must! @janelleabella

The soil I planted in is very soft. It has decayed wood chip compost from my chicken coop with some store bought soil mix. Its in my little raised bed. I had never grown them before so its all new to me too. If you grow in full sun with some soft rich soil you should have no problem. I've noticed now that my plant is giving me a pup! I'll get a pic up of how its growing up beside mother plant. They've been nothing but a joy. I watered some too @pat2356

Very soft and pretty @cyndi

It has been so interesting to follow the lifecycle. I read a pup had come up does the mum die off now? Will the seed grow? Fascinating laura 😉

My favorite plant this summer. Last bloom finishing up now. Excited to watch what it does into fall. #artichoke

I wonder if the heart would still be edible, do you know?

I don't know what's going on in there. Would be fun to slice one in half to get an idea @lesliecole49

They would not last long enough to bloom in my yard. I would pick the buds and eat them all , leaves too!🤗

Once they get old enough to bloom, the tender flesh that is so tasty is tough. @lesliecole49

Fab Laura 😊

I didn't realise they could be so attractive at different stages Laura 😊

Just beautiful, Mother Nature is so wonderful.

I didnt either Beverly. I've been amazed @errolly

Thank you @diggergurl . yes mother nature is amazing!

Next year wed like to grow several so we can eat some Michelle. This one was planted strictly for blooms. Hope you're doing good. I've not been on here much. @purplebird

Never saw the blooms before. Always got them to eat. Beautiful 🤗. I am fresh out of the hospital. Had a 2 1/2 days stay. Lots of tests with no finding out anything. But the Dr. uped my restless leg medicine and I have been doing nothing but sleeping. Since I haven't had much sleep in months it feels good. Read somewhere u are out of fire danger. So glad. I am sure u will love the rain. Stay well.🤗😘

This is top of my list to do next year. Third one is opening now. It was a huge compliment to me when hubby said that we " sure do have a lot of bees this year"! #beeheaven #bees #savethebees #artichoke

Amazing Girl!✴️

They look beautiful Laura, bet the bee's have a great feast with those 💜💚

I'm going to have several. We wanted to eat these. Apparently artichoke plants grow a pup. I have not seen one yet. So ill try to have several. Idk. I hope to anyway. Seeds maybe? @Acetaker @cyndi

Oh the bees go wild for them Jane. I've seen a dozen on the big flower. They climb around in the tiny, needle shaped, purple petals. Incredible to watch. 🐝👌🐝💜🐝 @daisy-jane

Lovely 😀👏🏼👏🏼

Lovely I like you can see it growing through the pics @columbiariver

These are definitely one of the most fun and interesting things to watch grow. Great feature on gtags to watch progress 👏👍 @momasherri @richard.spicer.7906 @carolgs

Is this also edible?

Quite possibly my favourite veg. Delicious with garlic butter or hollandaise sauce 😋

Wow. Stunning Laura 😊👍

Thank you! This has gone beyond the harvest stage. Its going full bore into blooming! Fun one to grow. Just dont stick your finger in it because those tiny needles hurt 👍😁@bpetty55 @KariSamuel @Soph1e @susanhumphrey333 @cyndi I'm putting another pic up

They want to eat it! #artichoke #tooprettytoeat #gyo

#neverseenanythinglikeit ... ever!

Not eaten mine, just letting it flower. Like a big thistle flower!

😂😂😂

Will these tighten up, or have they gone past the eating stage? Are you going to let them flower?

They are opening up and turning purple. Exciting times for thistle lovers! Going to let it bloom @KariSamuel @jeatacake @lesliecole49

What a gorgeous plant. It has a silvery sheen. Our first #artichoke

Lovely architectural plants

That does describe it very well. It's grown up fast. Great to watch and there's not even a flower yet. @carolgs

I just read the encyclopedia info on this, I never realized I was eating the flower bud. I guess I thought it was more of a 'hip'. No idea why I thought that

I'm excited to watch it Leslie. It's an interesting flower. I hope the season is long enough for it. @lesliecole49

Oh, that would so suck!

I think it will be ok. I've seen many people growing them

Oh good Sherri. I have high hopes! 👆😜😍 @momasherri

@jeatacake I don't think mine is the same as yours, but it's my first artichoke and I'm loving it! The foliage is so amazing

It's looking good. They are very similar & closely related to Cardoons & have same flower I think, but it's my first time with them too, so it's all a learning curve for me.
Still trying really hard! Getting taller, not sure its getting any bigger though. E for effort little guy. #greenfriday 💚 11.23.18 #annualla
#smallisbeautiful hopefully small is tasty too
Thank you Susan. It should have been harvested in Sept. A little late planting on my part. @novicegardenlover
Aww come on little Artichoke, you can do it!
Yes, little artichoke, we all want to see you big! @rachelbrooks 😘😄😅😆💚
