The #asparagus that we let go is in its yellow phase 😍 so delicate.

Do you cut your back in spring? We always do ours in the fall.

@gjones I've never done it correctly. Harvesting vegetables from these completely lost me. So I let them go for the foliage only. Do you harvest yours?

Yes, we love asparagus and have 3 patches. Last year we harvested so much that we gave oodles to our daughters. We couldn't keep up with it. My daughters love pickled asparagus so next year I'll try and make a few jars of that!

Now that I seem to have more time and a helper I may read up and see what I can do. My mom warned me it was a real commitment to get conditions right for success. Will you take pictures in spring? For inspiration @gjones? we love it pickled too.

Sure, we'll post photos. It needs lots of moisture in the spring so it's gets tender and not woody. In the fall and in the spring, we add well rotted manure as its a heavy feeder.

I love pickled asparagus! Its very hard to find around here. Mostly I wait for the craft fairs. I wasn't planning for a veg garden, but I might have to put in a patch
