Thalictrum thalictroides syn. Anemonella thalictroides
Rue Anemone
Thalictrum thalictroides, the rue anemone, is a herbaceous perennial native to woodlands in eastern North America. It has white or pink blooms, surrounded by a whorl of green leaflets, and flowers in springtime. Rue anemone is a woodland perennial, meaning that the plant has a normal life cycle exceeding two years. It can grow up to 9" in height, producing a lacy whorl of three-parted, dark green leaves near the top. Growing above these leaves are delicate, reddish-brown stems that bear white or pink blossoms. This slender spring flower is easily cultivated in wildflower gardens. It is similar in appearance to the wood anemone (Anemone quinquefolia), apart from its numerous flowers and rounded leaflets. The leaves of rue anemone are similar to those of the meadow-rues. It should be noted that all parts of this plant are considered poisonous and, although only highly toxic in large quantities, should not be ingested.
