Ocimum americanum

Basil Blue Spice

Basil Blue Spice : "Ocimum basilicum "  Annual  Basil that has a spicy fragrance with a vanilla overtone. Plant grows 18" to 24" tall and has light purple flowers. Culinary Uses : Basil can be dried or used fresh.  It is best used fresh, as drying it will lose its perfume and quite a bit of flavour. A favorite with French cooks, who have traditionally used its leaves in soups and salads. Can be used in fruit salads, with poultry and probably in many other dishes where you would use sweet basil. The unique flavor of this basil make it very popular in beverages and baked goods.
